About
María Bisbal is a renowned artist known for her dedication to painting portraits and the human figure. She approaches this genre with a fresh aesthetic that reflects the demands of contemporary society while also respecting tradition.

Her career reflects a profound commitment to both humanity and society, viewing art as a space for connection and exchange.
Bisbal’s career in portraiture started over a decade ago, with commissions from prestigious institutions such as the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation and the Ministry of Education. Her works can now be found in public and private art collections. Notable portraits include those of director Darío Villanueva for the Real Academia de la Lengua, rector Alejandro Tiana for the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, and president Francisco Rubio Llorente for the Consejo de Estado. Recently, Bisbal has painted portraits of political figures such as Presidents Manuel Cruz and Pilar Llop for the Spanish Senate, the President of the Court of Auditors, and the President of the Provincial Council of Castilla La-Mancha.
From an early age, the Valencian painter showed a great inclination towards art, which led her to enter the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2001. During her training, she broadened her knowledge of drawing from life and workshop processes. She also showed a great interest in the graphic arts, which have marked her aesthetic choice, and which led her to study Industrial Design for a year at the Politecnico di Milano thanks to an Erasmus Scholarship.
On her return, she completed her studies with a collaboration scholarship in the Fine Arts Sculpture Department, and shortly afterwards, in 2008, she joined the workshop of the painter Hernán Cortés Moreno as support in the elaboration of the portraits of the Fathers of the Constitution for the Congress, as well as in the pictorial polyptych of the Spanish Senate.
During this period she began a professional career focused on portrait painting based on a constant development of technical skills and theoretical knowledge; placing value on the inherent responsibility of being a woman painter, as well as the importance of representing contemporary women truthfully and in accordance with the present day.
María Bisbal’s intention is to develop her own technique, beauty and innovation where the works stand out for their capacity to transmit the most authentic psychological and emotional meanings of the people portrayed.
